In het Nationaal Kompas Volksgezondheid kunt u antwoord vinden op allerlei vragen over de volksgezondheid en zorg in Nederland.
Het Nationaal Kompas richt zich op professionals die zich bezighouden met de inhoud en organisatie van volksgezondheid en zorg. Maar het biedt ook informatie die voor een breder publiek interessant kan zijn.
The National Public Health Compass is the gateway to information about health and disease, risk factors, care and prevention in the Netherlands. The National Public Health Compass answers questions like:
Whether quantitatively or analytically, the National Public Health Compass provides an enormous amount of information about health and health care. A lot of effort is put in updating and filling the system with scientifically based information. By releasing a new version of the Compass every three months we try to be as up-to-date as possible.
The National Public Health Compass is meant for professionals who are active in the field of public health, like policy makers at the ministry of health, regional and local authorities, municipalities, health care providers, patients, consumer organisations, insurers, researchers and health educators.
The National Public Health Compass is developed and co-ordinated at the Department of Public Health Status and Forecasting that is part of the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). Nation-wide, experts, research-institutes and universities have been involved to contribute to the National Public Health Compass on their field of expertise. The ministry of health (VWS) has commissioned the Compass.
The National Public Health Compass consists of several layers that are ordered according to their level of detail. When the mouse slides across the lines in the document, hyperlinks will appear that lead you to references, information about data sources and explanations of concepts. This sort of information pops up in a new window. Another example of detailed information is the availability of so-called detaildocuments, which often give tables with more quantitative data. Both internal and external hyperlinks are included to refer to other relevant information within the Compass or elsewhere on the web.
Every step in the National Public Health Compass is made visible in a so-called crumb-path on top of the document. Clicking in this path brings you back to higher stage in the search-tree.
On the bottom of the document is stated who the author of the document is and to what institution he or she belongs.
Top right in each document you find a hyperlink to a printer friendly version of the text. If you click on this link, also the literature references will be printed, as well as the author of the document. Landscape-format is recommended.
English speaking persons who are interested in the National Public Health Compass should practise a little more patience. Plans are being developed to make an English version!
